On Friday, April 18th, Sean Sibley, PhD, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CNE, Clinical Assistant Faculty and FNP Track Coordinator, for the University of Maine School of Nursing, visited Health Access Network’s Lincoln facility to present Laycee Duhaime, FNP-C, with the 2025 Outstanding Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Preceptor Award.

The University of Maine School of Nursing, shared the following regarding Laycee:

A 2015 graduate of the UMaine FNP program, Ms. Duhaime is recognized for her exceptional dedication to mentoring future nurse practitioners.

Ms. Duhaime serves as a primary care provider at Health Access Network in Lincoln, Maine. Over the past three years, she has generously contributed over 700 hours of preceptorship, providing invaluable direct instruction and professional modeling to UMaine FNP students.

One student shared, “Laycee is an exemplary nurse practitioner with over ten years of clinical NP experience. Her exceptional knowledge and expertise have profoundly shaped my growth as a clinician, and I am continually in awe of her. Laycee has excelled as my clinical preceptor while also managing to homeschool one of her daughters, teach a dance class, and maintain a daily workout regimen. I greatly appreciated our time together, during which we discussed clinical subjects, nutrition, and weight training. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Laycee for her invaluable mentorship, for which I will always be grateful.”

The University of Maine School of Nursing acknowledges the critical role of preceptors like Ms. Duhaime in developing Maine’s primary care workforce. Their commitment to guiding the essential experiential learning aspect of direct patient care is vital to the success of our students and the health of our communities.
